Yangon 2004 SPZP
by Ko Win Khaing
=====================================================================
The Saya PZP 2004 Yangon was successfully held on 26 Dec
2004(Sunday) at the Myanmar Convention Centre (MCC) from 8-12 am. It
was attended by more than 200 sayas and 3000 alumni.
The convention hall was filled to capacity and the sights and sounds
were awesome and vibrant with the joy, happiness and pride.
The sensation to be a part of a history making event in the engineering
field was felt by all who were there.
It was no less made more significant and memorable by a huge
earthquake which rock the city, but luckily with no damage just before
the start of the event.
Words of advice were given by Saya Dr. Aung Gyi, Saya U Aung
Khin(Mech), Saya U Ba Toke (Math), Saya U Khin Aung Kyi and Saya U Tun
Shwe(Mech).
Words of welcome were said by Ko Win Khaing (Mech 75) as the
secretary of the organizing committee and M.Cs were Khin Saw Mu (EP)
and Ko Toe Maung(Civil).
It was a considerable logistics operations to conduct the event
smoothly and without major hitches due to many facets of the PZP event:
event management, registration, issue of gifts, address books,
transportation, lunch for sayas, refreshments for alumni, photo and
video recording, press and media, gift shop, etc.
The dinner [and entertainment] event was held at the Dusit Inya Lake
Hotel on 26 Dec 2004 evening from 6 pm onwards. It was attended by more
than 120 sayas and 1300 alumni and invited guests.
With a fine entertainment program created by our alumni and young
engineers, it was reminiscent of the old days of student's life and
social activities with a sense of humour provided by the "Lu-Shwin
daw".
At the end of the show, all the sayas and alumni present sang with
gusto the famous "Mya Kyun Nyo Nyo Tekkatho" song written by Saya U
Thet Lwin.
The Saya Puzawpwe Yangon 2004 event and Dinner event were
successfully concluded after this.
More detail news and information including snap shots will be posted
on the http://www.sayapzpygn.com website by Ko [Dr.] Soe Thein [Civil
75, who also was co-organizer and webmaster of Singapore 2002].
The VCD record of the event will be available soon and will be released
to all alumni.
Best wishes and a Very Happy New Year!!
Ko Win Khaing
Editor's note:
When alums heard about the raging Tsunamis in Asia, they were
worried that they made have effected [directly or indirectly] Yangon
2004 SPZP.
Due to the metta and cetana of the sayas, sayamas, organizers,
volunteers, attendees, and well-wishers, the SPZP went without a hitch.
Congratulations to all who made Yangon 2004 SPZP possible.
Kudos to all who have carried on [and continue to uphold] the RIT
tradition.

That's all for now.
