Update (January 11, 2005)

=====================================================================

Dear Sayas and Colleagues,

News about Yangon 2004 SPZP.

====================================================================

Ko Win Khaing, Secretary,

Organizing Committee, Yangon 2004 SPZP

====================================================================

The Saya PZP Yangon 2004 was successfully held at the Myanmar

Convention Center at Min Dhamma Rd on 26 Dec 2004.

More than 200 sayas and 3000 plus alumni attended the event which

was hailed as the largest gathering ever organized for RIT/YIT/YTU

alumni.

The organizing committee was commended by all who attended the event

for a good job well done.

The organizing committee would like to thank all alumni who worked

tirelessly with the various sub-committees to make this Saya PZP Yangon

2004 a resounding success.

In appreciation, a newspaper column was taken in the "Kyemon" daily

on 10 Jan 2005 to thank all persons, organizations, government

institutions, alumni, sayas and members of organizing committees. (see

attachment)

The commitee would also like to express its gratitude to Saya Dr.

Aung Gyi, Saya U Khin Aung Kyi, Saya U Aung Khin (Mech), Saya Allen

Htay, Saya Dr.Tin Hlaing, Saya Mao Tung Siong (Mech), Saya U Thit, Saya

Daniel Tint Lwin, Saya U Thein Lwin, [Saya Maung Maung] and other

overseas sayas and alumni who were present at the PZP event.

We would also like to share with you that a meeting to select the

next venue for Saya PZP 2006 was held on 26 Dec at MCC. After

discussions among participants from Myanmar and overseas, it was

generally agreed that the 2006 PZP event will be held in

Myanmar(Yangon/Mandalay. This is due to consideration that most sayas

are ageing and they reside mostly in Myanmar (Yangon).

The second alternative venue was selected as Singapore. Most

participants discussed that after holding the PZP event tentatively 2

times in Myanmar, t should be held in one oversea country Singapore or

USA) where most overseas Alumni are residing.

The commitee would like to inform all alumni that a ceremony to

honour those volunteers, young engineers, artistes and donors would be

held at the IBC(International Business Centre, Pyay Rd) on 23 Jan 2005.

We anticipate about 300 persons will be honoured with certificates of

honour followed by dinner.

Please also view our website for updates news and picture gallery of

the event. (www.sayapzpygn.com)

A VCD will be circulated soon about the Saya PZP event and the

Dinner held at the Dusit Inya Lake. All alumni are requested to contact

the committee to order their copy. A small copy fee will be charged.

For all Singapore Alumni, the address books will be sent to Singapore

as per arrangement with Ko Nyan Win Shwe and Ko Win Khai Htay. For

other alumni, please contact the committee to get their copy (or)

advice the address to send locally (in Myanmar). We regret our inabilty

to send to other foreign destinations by postal means.

Best wishes and a happy new year to all.

Miscellaneous: Sad News

=====================================================================

We are sad to learn that Ko Kyaw Zaw Tun, who volunteered for

several monasteries in the Bay Area, passed away recently in the East

Coast (New York, USA).

His kusala (good deeds) include: offering chauffeur service to

the Sayadaws, practising vipassana meditation as a lay disciple [and

for a long period as a donlaba monk], translating the dhamma talks

given by Beelin Sayadaw at Tathagata Meditation Center (TMC),

distributing dhamma tapes/talks/books, ...

A dhamma book about "Five Aggregates" (a series of dhamma talks

given by Beelin Sayadaw at a 9-day meditation retreat, where KZT acted

as interpreter) was published by TMC.

May he rest in peace.

=====================================================================

That's all for now.

With metta,

Hla Min
