MoeNyin Than Boday

Than-boddhay was built over a twelve year period during the time of the Great Depression and World War II.   Than-boddhay  was built by a popular abbot with the help through donations from the general population.  This monk wanted to transfer the  good karma that went into building this structure to ease world suffering.  There are almost 600,000 Buddha statues at Than-boddhay, all in the "touching ground" position, a pose that represents the moment before achieving enlightment.
