I ENJOY village life. One of the main differences to living in cities is that village residents can have big houses. The air is fresh. Food is fresher and cheaper, so the cost of living is much lower in a village than in a big city. The rural way of life is closer to nature. One advantage of living in big cities is access to a variety of media so it is easier to acquire information. Even though special health care services are not available in villages, access to them is becoming easier because of improvements in transport and communications. People in villages have the knowledge to maintain good health. In the education sector, it is obvious that students in villages have fewer opportunities than their counterparts in the cities to keep abreast of developments in modern technology. But on the other hand, there is a higher standard of morality among young people in villages compared to those in cities. This means that it is rare for rape cases or sexual misconduct to occur in villages. I have visited Yangon about four times but I have never considered living in a big city. Life is more a struggle in big cities. People in rural communities are more helpful to each other than those in urban areas. The gap between rich and poor is more noticeable in cities.
